Lethargy

The sky is bright with the glow of day,
Now as the noises come alive.
People, busy on their way,
The great struggle to survive.
I look upon it feeling weary
Too daunted to partake.
Oh, let me put off this hurry
And just cherish being awake.
Let me shelve these contrived chores
Feel all those things you forgo.
Seeing the river from its shores
Before tackling its chaotic flow.

Religion is powerful. But for all the wrong reasons.

Masked.

The glow of the sky fades into the night.
Now it's all dangling building lights.
Facades, made by men in their own image
Showing the delighted state of the village.
Longer feels the walk in this damp day.
The destination only giving dismay.
I'll seep through your eyes, you can't hide
threatens the storm, raging inside.
Calmest of steps weighed down
By the burdens atop me as a crown.
Now I wear these joyous masks like a store
Each one better than the one before.

And in love, we find Grace.
With it's infinite complexity
And unyielding power,
There is nothing finer
And nothing worth cherishing more.

Parting ways with something into which you once poured your heart and soul,
is sorrowful.
Yet sometimes,
When a fresh start is what you seek,
Those things must come undone...

It's in those moments...
When after a noisy day, you sit down,
Drink in hand, tunes in ears,
Breathing a little fuller, smiling a little wider.
That's when you feel bliss.

I am the evil that consumes myself.
Bound in shadows, for eternity.
To live or to die,
only in the company of these demons.
Unrelenting and unforgiving.

Is it only through the eyes of others that our lives have any significance?
If there's no one who recognises you, do you really exist?
