"GANDHARV VIVAH" were prevalent in quite a good olden period when the powerful bridegroom would kidnap his bride by force and solomnise the marriage where the parents resisted the same for any reasons .
In Bihar it is still existing but just in the reverse way. Here the qulifide and well earning bridegroom is kidnapped by father of bride and the marriage rituals are completed in similar forceful manner. This is happening for saving the fat demand of dowery by the parents of the bridegroom.
Today I watched a live footage on tv where such marriage was being conducted somewhere in Bihar. Here at the time of the "FERE" the poor and helpless bridegroom who was forced to perform that was profusely crying and his mother in law was wiping his rolling tears smillingly . After seeing all this my heart went all out for him and I really felt so pity for the captive bridegroom.
It all looked like a fairly tale.
