खान अंकल की चाय
पीते हुए
तुम्हारे शहर की
बारिश की वो एक बूँद
का मेरी चाय में
छपाक से गिर जाना।
आज तुम्हारा आसमान उतर गया
सीने में मेरे,
महफूज़ रहने को
सदियों के लिए।
उफ़्फ़...
आज मैं पूर्ण हुई।

My never having got raped
Despite being a girl

My not being a student of Jamia today
Despite desiring it
Is just a matter of chance.

My institution is still safe
Despite being a student of a University
Is just a matter of chance.

My not having to prove my citizenship by now
Despite being a resident of such a country
Is just a matter of chance.

My not being at the hands of those tyrants yet
Despite staying in India
Is just a matter of chance.

And,
My being an Indian
Is just a matter of shame and fear.

मैं कविताएं नहीं लिखती
मेरी कविताएं मुझे लिखती हैं,
मुझमें "तुम्हें" लिखती हैं।
मेरी कविताएं गढ़ती हैं
मुझे, मुझमें खुद को,
और खुद में "तुम्हें"।
वे "तुम्हारे" नाम के महावर से
सजाती हैं मुझे,
और खुद को भी,
और फिर इठलाती हैं खुद पर।
अपनी छाती के धरातल पर
उकेर लेती हैं सजीव तस्वीर तुम्हारी,
और फिर सी देती हैं उसे मुझमें
कि पूज लूँ मैं "तुम्हें"।
वे पी कर उतार लेती हैं
खुद में तुम्हें, पूरा का पूरा,
कि मधुशाला सी हो जाती हैं तुम्हारी
मुझमें तुम्हें घोल देने को।
मेरी कविताएं कविताएं थोड़ी ना हैं,
वे तो "तुम" हैं।
वे मेरी नहीं
"तुम्हारी" हैं,
आधी अधूरी नहीं,
पूरी की पूरी,
केवल "तुम्हारी"।
