Baby myna, searching for a home
Seems to be eating the twig she settled for
Or probably just smelling the branch
I don't understand her obsession with wood
Or other fantasies

A diary, writing the unheard stories of a past
Carefully selecting the words still
Or recklessly repeating the lessons in all pages
She doesn't understand the gullibility of the author
Or the innocence of dreams

A human being, I tune my guitar
My life's not in sync, they told me
Or they judged from words that don't rhyme
They don't understand my pen's rebels
Or other dirges

अनसुनी करती चली तूफानी सी धुन
कह न सकी जो शिकवे थे मुग्धा
चुप ही सुनती रही कोई अजनबी सी तरन्नुम

सपनों को भी बयान करने दो हसरतें इक शाम
कि कलम हर रात घिसा नहीं करते

शायद लिखा है मैंने कुछ बताने के लिए
शायद लिख दिया होगा हमें मिटाने के लिए
यादें भी अब पन्नों की मोहताज हैं क्या?
जो कही थी तुमने सच में वही बात है क्या?

शायद कहा था तुमने रंज दबाने के लिए
शायद कह दिया होगा अमन लाने के लिए
दस्तूर-ऐ-फ़ितूर कोई ईनाम है क्या?
ख़्वाहिश हकीक़त की गुलाम है क्या?

सपनों से दूर रहती हैं रातें
दो पल मिल कर सो गयी बातें
ज़िंदगी कोई शाही कोहराम है क्या?
मृत को नसीब आराम है क्या?

हर रोज़ समय से आ जाता था, जैसे समाचार हो
पुकार कर देखा मैंने, तो ब्रॉडकास्ट नहीं हुआ

ख़ामोशी को ख़ामोश कर
बेरुखी को रुख़सत कर दूँ?

मर मिटने की यूं चाहत तो नहीं
तुम बोलो, क्या बगावत कर दूं?

चीख़ उठी हो जो भीतर कहीं
तुम बरसात सुन लेना
सूना लगे बदरा का कारवां
तुम बरसात सुन लेना

जब लगे जिंदगी से कुछ ना मिला हो
तुम बरसात सुन लेना
तन्हाई का एक मौसम खिला हो
तुम बरसात सुन लेना

मैं कभी कुछ कहूँगी नहीं
तुम बरसात सुन लेना
जो ख़ैर मुझे सुनना चाहो
बरसात सुन लेना

ख़ामोशी की आदत लगी है
अब इन बातों से डर लगता है
जा चुके हो इतनी दफ़ा
कि तुम्हारे आने से डर लगता है
अहसास सो रहे हैं दिल में
कि जैसे कुंभकर्ण हो
जो जग रहे हैं भंवरे
उन्हें बुलाने को मन करता है

क्या मैं समझूँ तुम्हें
बस एक कल का उपहार
कह दो कि तुम नहीं हो
मेरे कल सा एक वार
गिर के उठ जाऊँगी यकीं है
बस यूं बेवजह चलने से डर लगता है
दाग हैं अतीत के सुनहरे
हीरा परखने से डर लगता है

Sleeping in a dark night
Would lightning strike guide my way?
Or if I choose to not sleep
Would that make it a better day?

It's almost the time to retire
Will I get to see light again?
Woke up, implying I am still alive
But do I really smell life the same?

Thoughts are timeless
Why memories come on schedule?
If you could really choose your dreams
Who you think you be able to fool?

If you could evolve into a shooting star
Which wish you would keep?
Is it the smile of a child who just waved
Or the eyes that didn't sleep?

Miracle is but a vision well defined
World carries magic, I carry a mind
The creator created me to create
A life of abundance in horizontal 8
If there were a timed one to live
I consciously practice gratitude, I give
Rhyming all my relations in sync
Pouring over the love ink
Life is a poem I read and write
And dance and sing across the highest height
Traveling often, acknowledge the role I play
To keep Mother Earth as virgin as she's today
I adore rainbows, I appreciate black and whites
I stand strong in the darkest of nights
For the moon carries a hope divine
In the galaxy of wonders, a star would be mine
