Little birdies still sit with me
They still keep chirping, all day
sitting on my window.
But now I ain't annoyed anymore.
It feels like they're
trying to distract me,
deliver a message not realised,
screaming to live again.
There was a time when all I wanted to hear from
was you.
And now since you're gone,
they give me company.
Sitting along the window, they tell me stories
of the places they've been to
and people they've seen.
Some new friends who were kind to them,
while others who shushed them away.
And I wonder of how it would be to
live a life like theirs,
with only purpose of survival
wandering through the places.
