Today I want to rip open
the mended stitches of smiles
over the rugged dark patches of melancholy.
If you be kind to listen to me,
I will today unlock and open
the closed drawers of sentiments
I accumulated over the years of yore
and from the present.
Closed were they,
because they remind of pain, humiliation and sorrow.
But today I choose to share,
Because you say my smiles are magic,
But they hide the deep taverns of a maimed human.
And when you listen to me,
I will beam at you,
Slowly unravel to you the real me.
But if you and when you judge me, again,
I will slowly and quietly retrieve,
wrap those pieces back
in the precious silk of my mind,
put them back in those closed drawers,
and, shut them up forever,
leaving you with only my faux smiles.
I will today, mend those feelings,
If you choose to listen or judge,
I will close my eyes and listen to me.
