He was my friend, who laughed with me,
Who made me smile, joked with me, pulled my leg,
His beaming smile would light up my day.
You were not a foe, but with a permanent frown on your face,
And much like the others, I was repulsed
Enough to keep my distance away from you.
But time tells everything.
Every smiling face is not that of a friend,
And every foe doesn't walk with a smile on his face.
The smiles turned into frowns,
A fair-weathered friend became a terrible foe,
The serpant in the bosom, was waiting to strike.
And it's venom spread all over, sickening me.
Then, you came in, a Good Samaritan,
With an antidote called love,
That is free from those preservatives of attachments, bondage, greed, even lust.
Love that was soothing, love that was real.
Love, which lasted through all the seasons...
