RIVERS PROTECT US AND WE DESTROY THEM

Rivers flow,
In the sunshine, with the glow.
We, on the first day, approached them,
And later wrote their names in our anthem.
We settled along their way,
And drank the glassy water they carry away.
With them, we quenched our thirst,
And grew plants to fill our waist.
Rivers are the earth's blue heart,
And we portray them in our art.
We hinder, with the dams, their path,
And turn them foamy washing our cloth.
By them, our lands are painted green,
And the coloured clothes that spoil them, make us grin.
We deprive them of their sand in lorry,
And for that we do not feel sorry.
Rivers run towards the ocean in haste,
And we drain, in them, our waste.
Rivers serve us asking no wages,
And we exhaust them over ages.
Rivers protect us,
And we destroy them.
