I wasn't the right one

the secrets of night
to which
unfortunate sea
has no privy

अपनी ग़म ख़ेज़ बातों से
रिसते ख्वाबों से
सिसकती आहों से
अपने तरकश के
हर तीर को आज़माती है
रात बहुत डराती है

-

सुनो जानाँ,
तुम्हारे मधुर बाहुपाश में
मैंने कितनी बार खुद को
खाली होता हुआ पाया है
मुझे ऐसा लगा है
जैसे किसी ने अचानक
इस जिस्म के बोझ से
मुझे मुक्त कर दिया है
और इस लम्हें में मैं शरीर नहीं,
मैं मात्र एक सुगन्ध हूँ -
आधी रात में महकने वाले
निशिगन्धा के फूलों की
प्रगाढ़, मधुर गन्ध -
आकारहीन, वर्णहीन, रूपहीन

this wait for the dusk,
the rising sun doesn't
bring any respite,
the one which arrives
with the time of tryst

-

I try to jot it down,
in hundred verses,
try to weave
in thousand poems,
I try to describe
in a thousand
different ways,
never actually
reaching the core,
the heart of the matter.
Yes, that’s it.
How terribly I miss you,
is utterly unexplainable.

तुमसे जुदाई का ख्याल
रूह को तोड़ देता है
कई कई टुकड़ो में

-

ये धड़कन अब भी चलती है
साँसे अब तक थमी नहीं
रात दिन के पाटों में
जान अब भी पिसती है
कोई रवायत चुकी नहीं
हाँ मगर बेस्वाद है ज़िन्दगी
लज्जत कोई बची नहीं

and each time
you hold my hand
the earth stops spinning
still the universe stands

इस हाट में
होले होले
अपनी प्रेमगाथा के
मैंने बेच दिए
पन्ने पन्ने
