There’s a storm inside me, and it’s not passing.

Nostalgia is a liar in how it montages our best memories while omitting our truths and the truth is not every experience is meant to last forever. No one is entitled to any part of you for any more time than you are comfortable in sharing yourself. So be selfish, you are a universe, inside of a vessel and not everyone is worthy of the experience that is you. You are not obligated to keep anyone in your life so learn to experience fully, and know when to let go.

You will find yourself lost in a world without them but you will heal and in time, you will realise you are living without the one you thought you couldn’t live without.

To get them away from our dreams, we have to continuously forgive ourselves and forgive them. We have to thank them for allowing ourselves to experience such emotions so that you can continue to grow. And when they are in our subconscious, we should know that they are there to remind us of what we are grateful for and who we have now become.

We should live life for the moment, because sooner rather than later, it will slip away. It will go and we won’t remember all that time we spent working, and studying, and worrying. Instead, we’ll find ourselves reminiscing on instances that gave meaning to our lives, so we should hold on to these moments. Those memories which are etched into our minds, the nights where we knew exactly what it felt like to be alive.

The meaning of life, is the meaning we create for ourselves, so surround yourself with people who mean well and do things that mean the most. Take some time out and stop, breathe, look around you and take in everything you can, do not worry for the future for that is another day, and today is now. And now, you are living, Enjoy life in the moment. Enjoy life for what it is, not for what it could be. Enjoy life for what you have, not what you could have.

In a world continually growing colder, people will try to rob you of your warmth. But we need vulnerability. We need people who can embrace their own feelings and recognise the weight of them, so we can begin to see validity in the feelings of others. I resent the idea that I need to change, to harden myself in order to survive in this world. Maybe the world is what needs changing. We try to convince ourselves that our minds set precedence over the things we feel, as if we can turn off our emotions and function off logic alone. But we will always lose. We are not machines, we are human beings, and what sets us apart from an assortment of codes and numbers, is our ability to find balance between logic and intuition.

It’s rare that people will admit to hurting you. Instead, they will frame you as being wrong, convincing themselves that you are toxic to alleviate their own guilt. And if you have been kind, then having little to pull from, they will have no option but to turn your better qualities against you. Your passion will be regarded as overwhelming. Your concern will be possessiveness. Your kindness will be naivety, and your love will be “too much”.

But in regard to emotion, there is no such thing as too much. The more in tune you are with your emotions is the more human you will be. We weren’t given feelings to hide them away and numb ourselves. We were made to feel. It’s how we remind ourselves we’re alive.

She was the anchor that kept your ship in place, she left and your ship drifted into a storm. And this storm destroyed everything.

You find yourself drowning in the wreckage, constantly being hit after wave and wave of pain, you feel like you’re drowning, because the storm shows you no mercy, you grab anything you find and hang on. This storm will eventually rest and allow you to breathe and be yourself again. The bad news is another storm is coming, more waves to pummel you and test your strength. The good news is, that while these storms continue to come, the waves will be smaller, more manageable. The pain will always continue to linger but you will grow stronger each day. You will always find a way to yourself up, soaking wet, beaten, but you will be stronger for it.

Use the storm to catapult yourself into something better, learn from it, grow from it, open yourself back up. Love will find its way back into your heart. Perhaps it will help rebuild your ship and make those waves feel like a ripple, and nothing more.

It used to be me and you against the world, now it’s just me against you.
