...and tho' it's a truth I've always known
My mind's in shambles
Haunted by the death of something that wasn't
I write lines I can't spit
Thoughts I can't speak
I'm a coward behind a pen
So, I'll let my heart bleed out in the summer
Cos either ways, I'll be cold by winter

Humbled and bloodied by the slaver's traps
We hid our faces from the Liberator's call
Seeking shelter amidst deadly Scythes
For our shame was set to be our bane
But by His grace have we transcended
Shedding garments of servitude for royal robes
From shackles that bind to halos like crowns
Trading works of flesh for those of the spirit
The Godly ascent from Slaves to Joint-Heirs.

Hey Love,
Words cannot express how much you mean to me
You are a great part of me, and by all accounts one of the best
So, on this day I allow myself to be peer-pressured into revering the longest serving Love of My Life
Cos from time past to time beyond I continue to be your baby
And your smile doesn't take my breath away, it gives fire to the very diaphragm that keeps me breathing
I have loved you for as long as I can remember, and you've loved me even longer
For you are mine, and even more, I am yours.
My First Love and my First Light!

Hey Love,
I know we don't talk like we used too but I remember how you made/make me feel.
De 14th will be here in a bit, you've probably got somebody, and it's a bit late, but I'm here with a proposal...
I don't wanna ruin your plans for tomorrow, but could you be mine for the day?
Just like the Joy of Dawn at the Death of Dusk, I'll bring my love from the Eastern Shores.
So, if only for a day, ditch the man in shiny steel and feel a love colossal. 🌹

And does the conscience rest?
Put down by bludgeoning lust
Battered and beaten till it lays its head down
Nay, it doesn't. For as long as it breathes
Its very nature ensures that it cannot rest
So, though it lays its head on Earth's brown soil
From her it saps the smallest wisps of moisture
As the morning dew descends and the evening breeze refresh
It awaits just the faintest flicker of reawakening strength
The smallest hope of a bright sunshine
And it will rise again
To strike a dagger at it's villain
And put to final rest the terrors that long tormented it
It doesn't rest, it simply waits
And when the time is right, it will rise.

...wealth-craze like bloodlust,
In-time dearth begat humility
And then, for some, despair
Giving in to thoughts of depravity
Downplaying every morality
Putting all conscience to rest
Daggering loyalty for royalty
A crown of bones on a throne of blood
An ungodly ascent from lowlifes to Tyrants

Drunken with early successes
We tirelessly plundered on
Descending our castles
To raid mere settlements
Beneath mountains and cliffs,
Scavenging wastelands,
Onto rifts, and down into tunnels
We're now trapped by our own greed...
An ugodly descent from kings to savages

CONQUEROR

...Submerged and knackered
Swept ashore by the raging tide
Drifting from seaside to hindsight
Soldered and stuck in retrospection
Unable to see beyond my antipathy
Rescued solely by His Divinity

Bruised and battered by the waves;
Only the immersed can re-emerge
Earning medals from pain,
Scars I wear with full pride
'Cos in the end I'm a conqueror
And that ain't no metaphor!

Dear God,
I'm here on bended knees again
I don't really wanna say much
But we both know how that goes
The curtain falls on this year in a bit
Bless what is and restore what isn't
Watch over who's left & embrace who left
...amen!

Tie check, shoe check,
Fanya Black Italian leather
To belt a bespoke suit,
Code set for a Thursday

But the cloud's turned dark
And the weather now windy
Raindrops or Teardrops
What then would it be?

Steppings for a defence
Nearly turned procession
God knows best; fairy on,
On to Abraham's Bossom!
