एक बार एक पत्रकार ने एक वैज्ञानिक से पूछा कि, "क्या आप भगवान में विश्वास करते हैं?" इस पर वैज्ञानिक ने कहा, "यह ब्रह्मांड तीन महत्वपूर्ण चीजों, समय, पदार्थ और स्थान से बना है। अगर आपका भगवान इन तीन चीजों में से किसी एक में मौजूद है तो वह भगवान नहीं है। क्योंकि जिस भगवान ने इस ब्रह्मांड को बनाया वह इस ब्रह्माण्ड के बाहर है ना कि इसके अन्दर, इसीलिए उस भगवान को इन तीन से कोई फर्क़ नहीं पड़ेगा। इस प्रकार मैं उस ईश्वर में विश्वास करता हूं जिसने इस ब्रह्मांड को बनाया, न कि उस ईश्वर को जो मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाया गया है।
