THERE WAS BLACKNESS (SONNET)
By Farinz Amani
So in the beginning there was Blackness:
Before there was light, before there was life,
Before anything was, there was Blackness,
Blackness was everywhere, Blackness was rife;
Blackness is beyond time, not created of course,
Was pure, original, never sinister;
She dwelt with her fraternal twin sister
Aqua, both wedded to God's active force.
But a time came, Blackness was lost in light,
For those who bore her forgot she came first,
Before light and life, before wrong and right,
Before all that's good or evil, blessed or cursed;
Blackness existed before the beginning,
Blackness is where we all find our meaning.
