For if they find me

it has the power to make or break
the week ahead

years ago in the library
Still finds a place in my wallet, even after you left me

I carry with it another poem, a reply I wrote years ago
That never found its way to you, after I simply let you go

The effect these poems have on me,
cannot be measured in weight or time
I only wish I got one chance,
to show you how much I thought you mine

You deserve the better version of me
that will shine with your forgiveness

You try to parent your child about reducing his screen time
And he reminds you that yours is more than his
