I lived in a Bangalore where one-ways never existed,

I lived in a Bangalore where the city was 10 kms from MG Road in all directions,

I lived in a Bangalore where summers didn't need fans and ACs didn't have a market,

I lived in a Bangalore where pollution was unheard off, and the greens of the city made for a picturesque painting,

I lived in a Bangalore where the city slept by 9 and there was peace all around,

I lived in a Bangalore which was once called the Pensioners Paradise

And then suddenly

The city grew far and wide,

The roads turned into one-ways, and flyovers made up for the lack of space,

The trees made way for tall skyscrapers,

The air was clogged with dust and smoke,

The summers got hotter and the monsoons unpredictable,

The silent nights turned into noisy night-outs,

And through all this my city, my dear city, embraced, endeared and welcomed all

Be it the people, monsoons or the floods

Because my city never complains,

It has never learnt to, nor will it ever learn to

Because my city only knows to embrace, endear and welcome all!!
