A Grateful Soul and a Kind Heart

The gratitude we accord.
No matter how subtle.
Keeps a kind heart afloat.

A kind heart takes nothing back
Though, words alone may not appease,
Kindness needeth not bows to be pleased.

What a stimulus is to an impulse,
Likewise gratitude to kindness.
Kind hearts and grateful souls are one.

CIRCLES
Not exactly what we know from Math class.
Not just shapes, but something that shapes.
Not just plane figures, but real fellas.
Not just diameters and radii, but heights and weights
Simply, the humans in our story.

Of whom they're made,
We can and cannot decide.
Throughout the course of life, for some reason,
People step out, people step in.
It's like that.

Many smaller circles inside one big one.
Circles from school, church, home and now the internet.
For the most part, we draw them ourselves.
We draw the lines, we make the boundaries.
What is your circle made of?

THOUGHTS

Like flowers, they bloom
Bringing forth a peaceful mood
Taking the mind to pleasant rooms
From wherever they comest,
Be it good memories or shower thoughts
Unto such we must hold tight.

Like thorns, they pierce
Troubling souls and making nightmares
Taking the mind into a dark abyss
Ruminating, dooming, depressing it is.
Touching nerves and fanning flames.
Of such we must shun away.

These two sides of the coin
Hot yet cold, welcoming yet hostile.
Nonetheless, it's all in the head.
Thought control is all it takes.
Feed on the positive vibes.
Cultivate your peaceful mind.

FAKE IDs

These masks we put on.
These colours we show; blue, white perhaps red.
These feathers we don.
These coats we put on; of many colors,
Each for the "right" moments, places and people.

These things that define us;
Race, religion, nationality, politics, social status,
Our circles, finances, profession, culture.
Creating classes and shaping selfhoods.
These we print on papers and cards.

These questions we ask ourselves.
Who we are?, Who do we want to be?,
Who are we supposed to be?,
What are we expected to be?
To which ones do we succumb.

These barriers we've made.
Language, gender, degrees and age.
We live in a society.
Don't we all need Fake IDs?

Just something to ponder.
