ডাক পড়েনি তবু ছুটেছি কাছে,
বন্ধ দরজা মুখের উপর দেখি!
মনের সকল আনাচে-কাঁনাচে,
বাষ্প এসে জমছে কেন,একি!
আসবেনা ডাক,বলবেনা কেউ চলো,
সবার শুধু নিজের বাঁচার ভয়!
বলেছিলো মা,ভয় পাসনি কোনো-
সবার আগে,মানুষ হতে হয়।
মা-ই শুধু দেখতে পায় মনে-
জলের বুকে দুঃখ টলোমলো,
ভয় যেটুকু বুকের গভীর কোনে,
তাই দিয়ে সব আজকে আগুন জ্বালো।
ডাক পড়েনি,এই আগুনের দিনে!
জোর করে তাও এগিয়ে যাওয়ায় শ্রেয়,
গলা-অবধি ডুবতে থাকা ঋণে
সবার পাতে দু-মুঠো ভাত দিও...-

সময় ছিলনা ডুব-জলে,
এখানে নদীটি আজও
ছাইচাপা দুঃখ হয়ে জ্বলে!
মনে পড়ে,কোন্ নদী?
মনে পড়ে,কোন্খানে সাঁকো?
মুখখানি চেনা লাগে?
এখনও কি ছায়া দিয়ে ঢাকো?-
