Everybody says it will be fine
But isn't that the truest lie?
Two sets of parents thousands of miles away,
Who would do anything to make sure that I am okay.
A person whose mere presence makes my day,
Someone who would understand the words that i didn't even say.
Few friends that became the chosen family,
All the days with them went so happily.
To live my dreams what I left behind,
That feeling cannot even be defined.
But I know the place I call home and the people I call mine,
They want me to shine.

Going to a place far away,
Learning new lessons every day.
Leaving behind your comfort zone,
And everything that you ever called your own.
Building a whole new life,
In a world where everything is daggers and knife.
The whole process is difficult but not impossible,
Having a familiar face, a kind heart and a shoulder to cry on makes you unstoppable.
All you need is one person to get you through,
But blessed am I to have gotten a bit over few.

Not getting attached has became a trend,
But as humans who can feel and express that's not how it is supposed to end.
Across the course of life,
You come across people who you call your own tribe.
That someone who bullies you,
Into doing something that you have since forever been meaning to.
There's someone with whom an unexpected bond you form,
Where nobody says anything but you know it all.
A person who's mere existence,
Gives your days a whole new consistence.
And to ensure those certain smiles,
You wouldn't mind going that extra mile.

Every morning the sun shines and the alarm strikes,
Crash landing from dreamland to the world of realities.
Slogging through the week waiting for the day off,
Sometimes even working weekends to manage the cutoffs.
Most days handling everything to the best you can,
You found your way through some nights filled with tears and the dawn of new days.
Besides the things that you do,
You deserve everything in the world just because you always give the best in you.

Everything is all roses and sunshine,
Until we acknowledge the thorns and dark time.
Things that are too good to be true,
Outcome of things the way we want are very few.
The constant friction between responsibilities and dreams,
Is a never ending battle it seems.
There are days when we give all it takes,
Yet it feels we can't make decisions only mistakes.
Things happen for a reason and every heartbreak brings us closer to forever,
Are a few thoughts we want to hold on like treasure.
These days the fiction we believe in is a disaster,
If only life was a scripted happily ever after.

The story of life is a twisted tale,
Wishing we could buy a book about hacks on sale.
Every dream we wish to fulfill no matter how high,
We are convinced the universe is bound to jinx it before it can even fly.
Hoping to always remember the day when we decided,
To stop investing when we start receiving less than invested.
Letting out that silent cry,
Everytime before the decision of that one last try.
When the punctuations of life are all messed up,
The commas feels more like full stops.

On the last day of the year, not any ordinary year but 2020,for starters I am glad we made it through. This has to be the most resented year I have ever seen. But honestly, I don’t see the point. Without a doubt it has been the toughest year in a while but a year full of learning and getting priorities straight.Sadly the loss that we suffered outweighs the gains but the gains can’t be overlooked. If anything, this year taught the value of things that we took for granted. Gave us time to explore everything for which we usually made excuse about not having time. It taught us to keep believing no matter how things go and also taught us that giving up is not an option. Even though virtually, but people connected, sadly some lost connections and things went haywire- from education to economy to employment to family responsibilities to relationships. Everything didn’t go as smoothly as it could have, but people started to think about innovations to make the sufferings less. Every person helped one another in ways they could. This could be the biggest lesson about kindness, patience, love, loss and above all humanity.

Wipe your own tears,
Defeat your own fears.
Only you will fight your battles in the end,
If you get your heart broken you are told to be strong and mend.
On the journey of life you go alone,
People come and go according to convenience of their own.
They preach that you have to be enough for yourself,
But usually they forget to tell that how much it weighs,
When you don't get a pat on the back or that one hug you need, on those tiring bad days.

Ability to show emotions comes at a price,
Maybe a virtue maybe a vice.
No matter how far we try to stay away from expectations,
With attachment there are always some unwelcomed complications.
We condition ourselves to use heart less than brain,
We mask the loss and show only gain.
On most of the events when we reflect,
We forgive but never forget.
Things we do to keep ourselves sane,
After every heartbreak we still smile time and again.

What i really want to do,
I have not thought that through.
No clue about ambitions and goals,
Adulting is full of loop holes.
Your IQ is expected to be sky high,
Even if your mental health is taking a dive.
With increasing responsibilities shall come equal rights,
But the lack of motivation and support dosen't let that equation tally most of the nights.
From everywhere all you get is suggestions and advice,
But at times a simple solution is all you need to survive.
