A Sunday Ghazal

I always end with so much time on a Sunday,
Waking up late doesn't feel like a crime on a Sunday.

Cooking on my own feels so refreshing,
I eat poha with some lime on a Sunday.

Weekend comes with a lot of peace,
My Ghazals automatically rhyme on a Sunday.

Morning feels light, night feels heavy
For digestion, my body needs a lot of enzyme on a Sunday.

Why do you have mixed emotions for Sunday, Anamika?
Feeling sad in happiness is my favourite pastime on a Sunday.

Maithili Ghazal

Words sound extremely sweet in Maithili.
I admire how politely we greet in Maithili.

Speaking and writing feels like magic;
I love how words and phrases meet in Maithili.

There's a fight for languages here and there,
I'm proud of how beautifully we treat in Maithili.

I'm afraid, you might get diabetes listening to us
Without sweetness, conversation is incomplete in Maithili.

Even the natives hesitate to speak our mother tongue;
Hardly anyone bothers to tweet in Maithili.

Other languages have dominated to such an extent,
I'm still searching for the meaning of delete in Maithili.

Most of us don't know how to write in Mithilakshar;
In schools, we were never allowed to compete in Maithili.

Nobody knows about the language I speak
A Maithil’s heart should beat in Maithili.

“Why are you so frustrated about this, Anamika?”
Together we rise, or accept defeat in Maithili.

Two years back, I pasted few papers on the wall of my hostel room, with an adhesive. I wanted to remove those papers. I tried but, few pieces remain stuck to the wall. No matter, how much efforts I put.
You are stuck to my heart the same way. I put efforts to scratch you out from there. But no matter how much efforts I put, whenever I try to remove you, a bit of you remain stuck there.

उठो, संभलो, शुरुआत करो,
यूँ हार कर बैठने से कुछ न हो पाएगा।
जिसमें हिम्मत है शुरु करने की,
वह ही तो जीत का परचम लहराएगा।

भूल जाओ क्या हुआ था,
सोचो ना क्या हो जाएगा।
हथियार संभालो खुद के तुम,
कोई बार-बार न समझाएगा।

मेहनत का राह जो चुन लोगे तुम,
विजय पथ पर राह बन जाएगा।
सच्चाई और ईमानदारी साथ जो हो,
तो कोई पत्थर तुम्हे न रोक पाएगा।

सोचते ना रहा करो,
क्या सही, क्या गलत कहलाएगा?
बस लगन से करो हर काम तुम,
तुम्हारा गलत भी सही बन जाएगा।

दुनिया पूजती है चमत्कार को,
कोशिश से तू वो भी कर दिखलाएगा।
बस भरोसा रख खुद पर,
तेरा हर मंजर आसान हो जाएगा।
