Kept Close
I wrote your name on paper
Folded it in a gold locket
To fight nature's forces
For I was wary of fire and water
Bound together by a word
Hung at the end of a neckchain
I grew wary of biology
Of dementia and pathologies
That could come with aging
So you rested closer to my heart
Farther from my graying head
Should my cognition falter
And those precious letters
No longer register as home
To my fading mind.

Just in case they become real.-

Get lost
In my eyes
In my dreams
In the world I make
Just for you
Lose yourself
Give everything up
To find us.-

When you see us cry
Do not think we mourn
For every tear is from a happy place.-

We warp philosophies out of our pain
Purport open wounds into the divine
But what is subjective can’t uphold truth
It obscures the underlying essence
To seek the one and only panacea
The truth of Jesus Christ
The Word of God.
