Today, I met with my heart,
He was quiet and sad, he looked down, and didn't say much.
He seemed confused and defeated, but he smiled at me.
I held his hand and sat beside him in silence.
Then he sighed and said,
I miss the olden days
When all we had was each other.
Truth be told I miss those days too
As I wiped away a falling tear.
-
Today would have been his 36th
He would have been excited about it
In his usual calm demeanor
He would have asked for nothing more
Than a prayer
We would have spent the day talking
About all the things we were planning
And if I complained about a thing or two
He would have spoken a word or two
In prayer
Although I am no longer sad
There's a void, an emptiness inside
Every now and then I still ask why
But I have learned to smile and sigh
And say a prayer

On the question of faith;
I believe that faith is having an honest, unquestioning confidence in the goodwill and goodness of God.
It is knowing without a shadow of doubt that God is true and dependable.
A man who does not believe this to be true about God cannot be said to have faith in Him, for what man in his right senses will rest his entire weight on a table if he expects it to fall?
Such a man if constrained to do so by circumstance, will of necessity brace himself for a fall.
Thus to declare that we have faith in God, and worry about falling is the highest disrespect we can show to Him who has by counsel and might shown himself consistent throughout recorded history.-
On days like this,
When I am confronted with the past,
When the efforts I have put into living pass before my eyes like the scenes of a motion picture.
It is then that I realise how much of what I am I owe to the grace of God.
Indeed the battle is not to the strong,
nor the race to the swift,
It is of the Lord who shows mercy.-
When you are faced with a situation that seems to question all you've known or believed about God;
When the present outcome threatens to nullify your confidence in the goodwill and omnipotence of God.
When all you have are questions, that nothing in all your theology can seem to answer.
I have found that it is at those times that a single question from the mouth of God, gives more peace than a thousand answers from the lips of men.
I know, cos I've been there!-
What is love?
Is it the fluttering of butterflies in your belly,
Or the calmness that follows the knowing that this is home?
Is it the spontaneous, almost hypnotic decisions made in the heat of passion,
Or the deliberative choices with eyes on the future.
My belly has always been a butterfly's graveyard, as they never seem to stay long enough to becloud my sense of reasoning.
Maybe the stability of logic is the only safe ground that I have known, since the shifting sands of emotions make "walking the line" very difficult for me.
Will I be sailing alone if I chose the simplicity of logic over the confusion of emotions?
Or will I be in the good company of those whose generation considered them wise or enlightened?
I guess only time will tell. Hindsight they say is 20/20 vision.-
The Sabbath
Often derided as an instrument of legality,
Rejected and despised by those for whom it was made;
Stripped senselessly of its spirituality,
As a special space in time that God, for man has made.
It would take a mind fully conscious of its helplessness,
To accept the verdict of a gracious God;
In creating this oasis of rest in the midst of our busyness,
A place for man to peacefully commune with his God.
At the end of a busy week, we rest our weary souls on him,
Grateful for the time to lay our burdens down;
At His feet, who knows us best, and to worship him.
What better time do we have to do this than now?
God is good, God is kind, He is merciful
He desires our highest good in the laws He has given
In every word He breathes to us, He shows his love in full
And everywhere we turn our eyes we see his Great love written.
Oh praise the Lord for His love towards us,
For his graciousness and everlasting mercy
Let us prepare today these hearts of ours
And today rest in his love and rejoice in his mercy.
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
Exo. 20:8-
When God said:
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me",
He was inviting man into his audience chamber.
When he said:
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image",
He was inviting man to sit at his feet and learn.
The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.-
The cost of salvation
Omnipresence: The ability to be in multiple places at the same time.
It is the very prerogative of God; His very nature.
Jesus gave that up in order that you and I can be saved.
What are you holding on to, that is preventing you from accepting so great a salvation?-
Last night, I needed a hug,
It didn't have to be a romantic one.
I just craved human contact.
It's been such a long time since
I felt like I was part of
Something bigger than myself.
A cause, a clan, a company perhaps!
Maybe someday, I will have all that and more
But for now, I shall focus on being alive.-
