उसे शहर में पर्चों पर छप जाना था।

यूँ तो मौत से डरता नहीं वो
उसे तो सरहदों पर जाना था।

महबूब की तलब में कांच तोड़ रहा
उसे तो मां की गोद में सो जाना था।

कतरा कतरा बेवफाई में मर गया वो
उसे तो मयख़ाने में जाम छलकाना था।

अकेले मर रहा उदासी में फ़र्द
उसे तो शहर छोड़कर चले जाना था।

खतों पर ढेरों गर्द पडी तिरे जाने के बाद
उन यादों को जलाकर फ़रोज़ाँ हो जाना था।

टूटकर परिंदा सा गिर रहा आसमान से
उसे तो फिर से बाज़ बन जाना था।

आज बरसों बाद खली तेरी कमी बारहा
रश्क आया तेरी निगाह ए नाज़ से बारहा

जब फूल मैंने बालों में सजाए बारहा
अब फ़क़त किताबों में सूखे मुरझाए बारहा

तेरे तग़ाफुल पे हुई खाकसार किस्मत बारहा
और अदावतों का इलज़ाम भी मुझ पर बारहा

मैंने आफियत में तेरी चूमे में मजार बारहा
तूने क़मर के दामन से छीने तारे हजार बारहा

मेरे इख़्तियार पर रहबर ने उठाए सवाल बारहा
अग़्यार की रुसवाई पे भरे मैंने अश्क ए बहर बारहा

An Old man setting fire to leaves
Everything turning golden- orange
Winter winds are blowing
Embers feeling colder now
Beaneth the tree, autumn leaves are twirling, swirling,
approaching their destination
For me it's a magical season
You told me to talk about spring
But I'll talk about autumn,
Where
Blossom flowers fall apart
I'm drifting down like autumn leaves
But my soul tells me to let it go like autumn leaf
In hope that in spring every leaf will become flower

कुछ स्त्रियां प्रेम नहीं लिख पातीं
लिखने बैठती हैं प्रेम, तो खींच जाती है उदासी की रेखा
महसूस करती हैं प्रेम,तो बहता है काजल और फैलता सुरमा
कुछ स्त्रियां प्रेम नहीं लिखती, लिखती हैं प्रेम के पश्चात मिली शुष्क पोखरों पर जो प्रेमविहीन हैं
लिखती हैं वे दरारें जो मिली हैं प्रेमालाप से ।

कुछ पुरुष विरह नहीं लिख पाते
लिखने बैठते हैं विरह, तो बन जाते हैं शंकु कुंठित हृदय के
महसूस करते हैं विरह, तो फफकती है छाती और असहृय वेदना
कुछ पुरुष विरह नहीं लिखते, लिखते हैं विरह के पूर्व गाये प्रेयसी के श्रृंगार संगीत जो प्रेम से परिपूर्ण हैं
लिखते हैं आलिंगन जो मिले हैं प्रेमाभिलाषा से।

मैं खुद की तलाश में हूं। मैं अपने आप से मिलकर अपने दुख बांटना चाहती हूं, मैं खुद के गले लग कर दम भर रोना चाहती हूं।
पर मैं कौन हूं ? मैं खुद को कैसे मिलूंगी?
मैं तोड़ना चाहती हूं बेडियाँ अपनी, ताकि जान सकूं पहचान अपनी। पर यहां बहुत भीड़ है और इस भीड़ में अपने अस्तित्व को तलाशती मैं एक सिफर (शून्य)
मुझे डर है मैं इस भीड़ में एक दिन विलीन हो जाऊंगी। मेरा अस्तित्व, मेरी तलाश मर जाएगी और बिखर जाएगा मौन मेरा पेड की टहनियों से गिरती हुई सूखी पत्तियों की तरह
परंतु जीवन के उन आखिरी क्षणों तक शाश्वत रहेगा मेरा मौन और शाश्वत रहेगा इस परिवर्तनशील संसार में अंधेरे के बाद रोशनी का ढेरा।
