It's too easy to be unkind
to animals, to the environment, to yourself, and to others out there.
The world's already full of such unkind beings ruled by their tastebuds. All you have to do is slip in somewhere and you'll easily get to settle like sand 'midst the jungle of cruelty. But to be kind, you have to be firm first. Kindness demands courage, patience and determination. Kindness is not a one-time recharge; it's a lifetime subscription. It's not a cakewalk. The whole world will be against you; your own people will treat you like an outsider the moment they know you have chosen a path that doesn't align with theirs. Some give in at this moment, and kill their soul, becoming a people pleaser who now joins their fam in their unkind rounds and rituals. But some choose to be humane; they pick compassion over everything and everyone, and carve their own paths. They are the real heroes. We need more such people. We need to become these people. Those are the people that must live when the world ends.

but half-baked,
always lacking
that 1%
whip of time
that peels
their maudlin manteau
to reveal them raw.

We read them the best
after letting them
slide like sand.
As spectators,
we take joy in
losing them
in bits each day,
dismissing
the unveiling of the decoy
by handing over
the deity wand
to the approaching never
that's set to soil us.
