If you're a new writer looking to become a great writer one day, don't start your projects aiming to make it a great work.

Set out with the understanding that you are making something bad. Something imperfect, something flawed. Say "off I go to write something bad" and not "I hereby embark on an epic quest to compose the greatest work of all time".

It'll help you work like a human being instead of what you imagine a great writer works like. It'll help you actually do something instead of being fixated on an impossible ideal.

When will you stop being bad, you ask? Never. You should always set out to make bad stuff. But maybe, one day, someone will say, " Hey that's actually not bad."
