Well, I finally did it!
I left home with a purple towel
wrapped around my head
like an African queen,
and sat in a cab before realising.
The two differences:
The queen takes elaborate time
and has it in the right place
and right shape
and has at least two maids
helping her arrange it;
Mine was a hurried shapeless blob,
sloppily placed to dry my dripping hair
as jumped into a dress
while shouting instructions
to my son about his tiffin
cooling in the kitchen.
She would have regally
and gracefully slipped into her carriage;
I plonked myself in my cab
stuffing my bag and my laptop,
before realising I carried
the heaviness of so many roles on my head,
I tore the towel and as the cab started
I lowered the window and
threw it at the guard
promising to pick it up in the evening.
