The thing about
separation anxiety is
that it already takes you
through the pain of it
many times before
you are separated from
what you adore.
You know death way
before death comes to
you.

Intrusive daytime memories
and those familiar signs of separation
made her knees weak, that morning.
Handicapped by her own fears,
she ran away once again,
this time from life.

That's the thing about separation anxiety,
you don't see it, until someone shows it.
A solo battle, deep within, between
trying to convince your mind that
things will be better
and fearing the consequence that's dark.

Separation Anxiety

And the non-stop tick tock of the clock
remind me of time slipping through the cracks
left by those invincible fears.
Flashbacks of what's imagined few sunsets ago
watching happiness walk out of my door
coming and fading, making my heart tremble
every once in a few minutes.
Forgotten sounds of those cries of separation
shaking me to the core, all of my strength
leaving me bit by bit with every passing second.
Anxiety, mercilessly crawling back to me
from the stories I buried carefully once.
Change, no longer acceptable ; change,
a nerve-wracking reality.
Scared to wish for a brighter sun tomorrow,
light has betrayed me more than once.
Too broken to survive another today,
I pray for a miracle to the Creator of the stars.
