Why birthdays are so special in one's life?

It's a day on which we brought a smile on our parents face, who were waiting for our arrival since 9 months, such a long period right but they wait wholeheartedly.
We make someone jealous who is none other than our elder siblings. Our parents celebrate our birthday as a token of love but on that day we don't realize that we are growing day by day and responsibilities are on their way. After a certain period we celebrate our birthdays with our friends, have a party and enjoy. With the growing age we forget our birthday, the joy we had when we were a kid. Why don't we just forget our tensions, responsibilities and enjoy that day with family and friends.
