ना जाने किसकी नज़र लग गई,
जो इन शामों में अब तेरा साथ नहीं,
एक अरसे से हसरत-ए-दीद में बैठी हूँ मैं,
पर हमारे मिलन की नज़र आ रही कोई आस नहीं,
रब भी हैरान है तेरे लिए मेरी बेक़रारी को देखकर,
फिर भी मुकम्मल कर रहा मेरी कोई फरियाद नहीं...!

■ DETERMINING IF ONE IS AFFLICTED BY EVIL EYE ■

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez al-Sadhan (may Allah preserve him) said: 

If it is not a real sickness, then the symptoms may take the following forms: 
 
Headaches that move from one part of the head to another; yellow pallor in the face; sweating and urinating a great deal; weak appetite; tingling, heat or cold in the limbs; palpitations in the heart; pain in the lower back and shoulders; sadness and anxiety; sleeplessness at night; strong reactions due to abnormal fears; a lot of burping, yawning and sighing; withdrawal and love of solitude; apathy and laziness; a tendency to sleep; health problems with no known medical cause.

Always tiptoe,
I don't want
them to hear you.
I need to
keep you in a bubble,
I don't want
them to hurt you.
I fear the evil eye,
I need to protect you from it.

If a person fulfils Tawheed, then indeed fear of other than Allaah will be removed from his heart. His enemy will be the weakest thing to him let alone something to be feared alongside his fear of Allaah. He will fear Allaah alone [and no one else]. He will find that his thoughts about the affair of his enemy, fear of his enemy and busying himself with the affair of his enemy is due to a deficiency in his [belief in] Tawheed. Had he been perfecting [his belief in] Tawheed, it would have been the uppermost thing in his mind and that Allaah is the One Who will protect and defend him, for indeed Allaah defends those who [truly] believe. If a person is a [true] believer, Allaah will defend him based on the level [or strength of] his belief [in Allaah].

■ EVIL EYE IS REAL ■

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“It is an arrow, shot by the one who is jealous or (or is known) for giving evil-eye towards the one who is envied – hitting (the target) sometimes and missing it sometimes. So if it is encountered while uncovered and without protection, then the person is affected by it. But no doubt, if it is encountered while taking precaution, then it will not affect him; rather it may happen that this arrow (evil-eye) is returned back to the owner himself (i.e. the owner is affected by his own evil-eye)”. [Zaad al-Ma`aad (4/154)]
