Santhals are the residents of the Rajmahal hills and the Chotanagpur plateau. Santhal Pargana district of Jharkhand is specially notable as their home district.

They are the largest ethnic minority in northern Bangladesh's Rajshahi Division and Rangpur Division. They are the third largest tribe in India. They are nature-worshippers and believe in ghosts. Their major profession is agriculture. They also go for hunting and collecting forests eatables. At present they also work as miners and tea plantation labourers. They are of mixed race of Proto Australoid and Negrito.

Ironed and clean dresses were compulsorily
Few are left for leaving the school,
God knows how much I am gonna miss all of these
