#8th Prompt - Body

I will write about you someday,
When my leaves turn a color that I can't name,
When the gravity gives up on keeping my roots ingrained,
When this absence of yours my body has learnt to tame,

I will write about you someday, mother,
When my words have enough fire to justify your flame...

#poemadayfeb #14 - unless

For years, I have faked myself into loving the so called men,
Men with personalities as anemic as an abandoned tombstone,
Men with their souls covered in polished plywood,
so nobody could spot their gentle self,
unless they ripped them open,

And then you came along on a random winter afternoon,
You were oh so fragile,
Like a newborn,

And you took no time to prove,
How that defenceless, stark-naked heart of yours,
Was the manliest thing in the whole wide world,
That being a man wasn't an act of safe & calculated heroism,
But of an unclothed sense of vulnerability...

#2nd prompt - Cascade poetry form

I don't wanna be found anymore,
Coz I feel courageous with you,

Like the audacious petals of a withering bellflower,
Like the destitute dandelions in the misty hour,
Carried away by currents of the winsome scent you wore,
I wanna stay lost, I don't wanna be found anymore,

So much for the rouge graffiti your lips make on my feet,
With a pinch of nutmeg on your breath so sweet,
Yes! I'm ready to drench my pastel grey sky in every hue,
Coz I feel courageous with you..

#6th Prompt - Hidden

She had always known healing to be an inglorious act of hiding,
Like some occult science to bring yourself back from the dead,
Or a lioness birthing her cubs somewhere in a secret lair,
Or like the simple yet catchy little routine of making love,

Until She realized that healing doesn't have to appear so grim,
It needs to befriend you,
before you two can make those daffodils bloom again,
It is in fact a Being in itself that longs for just as much love as you do!

#3rd Prompt - Beginning

For the longest time,
She looked at life through a petty window,
And all she saw were sundowns, one after the another,
The kind of sundowns that are reminiscent of grief, desolation and everything in between,
The kind that are all about the so loudly naked absence of their dawn,
And it took her an aching bunch of those to begin to admit,
That she still Had the power,
to fuel her sun to fire without setting herself ablaze,
to choose the color palatte for her sunrise every single day,
Her very own power, that she had slid in her back pocket long ago in a hope to one day forget all about it...

#1st prompt - Heat

Today, I stared my morning chaos in the eye,
My urbanely ironed chaos that I so proudly call 'routine',
My mayhem of chores surviving entirely on necessity, not proclivity,
And to my awe, "I refused."
I refused so I could skip the coffee and just crawl down on the floor to hug her,
And in that brave moment I realized,
This anarchy wasn't a law, but just a good idea,
I didn't 'have to', I just chose to,
And as our chests met, I sensed a heartbeat just like mine, from across this barrier of species,
She's a 'mere dog' after all,
And yet, I could feel my indifference melting against the heat of her body,
Like she was a fellow human, but one with super powers!

#7th Prompt - Want

And how often we are deceived by the shimmering duo of love and 'want',
If I love you, I must want you,
If I want you, I must love you,

Unmindful of their demonic intent to slaughter each other.

You wanna pluck the rose and love it too?

#5th prompt - Journey

And while I stare at this blank page,
I notice that I'm not alone enough,
There's a flickering lamp across the street,
stammering its way to a conversation about something,
A chiffon scarf fluttering on the clothline at the neighbors',
As if inviting me for an evening swing,
These little leaflets of succulents around, playing tic tac toe,
Savoring their infancy, so unafraid of the bee sting,
And the breeze of course, maneuvering to get some violin notes right,
On my curly hair locks, as they sing,

And while I stare at this blank page,
I notice, on this journey of figuring out my art,
I'm anything but alone!

#4th prompt - inside

Today,
As my birthday gift to you, my brother,

I'll tell your late night coffee to come out just perfect,
And the cookies to be at their best behavior before I forget,
I'll tell your guitar to take it easy on you,
And your favorite metal bands to help you get through,
I'll have the smooth breeze sit inside your room, and sing you lullabies tonight,
And the pillow to trick you into sleeping when the time is just right...
