Who can forget 13th April 1919
In our History
People just gathered
To celebrate the occassion
Of Baisakhi and
The Britishers attacked
And killed 1379 people
Out of which 1000 people
Jumped and died in the well
While 379 people were shot
With those bullets
Which made marks on the wall
And I cannot forget
This day when innocent people
Were killed during British Rule

জালিয়ানওয়ালাবাগে দাঁড়িয়েছিলো কায়ের ডায়ের সাহেব,
আবলবৃদ্ধবনিতার জনস্রোতে
রক্তবৃষ্টি ঝড়েছিলো, বন্দী ভারত চেয়েছিলো তার মুক্তির হিসেব।
আকাশের বুক ফেটেছিলো সেদিন
মাটি চুষছিলো তারই সন্তানের রক্ত-ঘাম,
দেশবাসীর চোখে সেদিন তীব্র আগুন
বুঝিয়ে দিতে চেয়েছিলো সেদিন ভারতভূমির দাম।
চাষীর লাঠি, ক্রান্তিকারীর বন্দুক
যে যার মতো দিয়েছে ডুব মায়ের সেবায়,
পরাধীনতার চেয়ে মৃত্যুতে অলীক সুখ
বুঝিয়েছিলো ভারতপুত্র সেদিনের স্বাধীন থাবায়।
চলছে গুলি, ঢলছে লাশ মায়ের কোলে
মা তখন স্বাধীন হবে, সন্তানের রক্তে করছে স্নান,
কি বিভৎস্য দৃশ্য বলো রক্তের নদীতে
সেই রক্তে টিকা লাগিয়ে শহীদরা গেয়েছেন বিদায়ের গান।
মুখে শুধু একটাই জপ - 'বন্দে মাতরম'
শত্রুর রোষানলে পুড়েছে ভূমি আর বাতাস,
থামেনি ওরা ছিল প্রাণ যতক্ষণ
২৮ বছরের যুদ্ধে ভারত মা দেখেছিল স্বাধীন আকাশ!
