தூவானமோ தூறவில்லை அவனின் குரல் கேட்காமல்,
பூஞ்சோலையோ பூக்கவில்லை அவனின் விரல் தீண்டாமல் ,
சிரிக்கும் வானில் சிறகுகள் இல்லை,
அலைகளில் அசைவு இல்லை,
என்ன இது ?புரியாமல் பிரிந்ததால் ,
காதலும் காணாமல் போச்சோ ?

மழைச் சாரல் பட்டதாலோ ?

வாடைக் காற்று தீண்டியதாலோ ?

மாலை நேர அழகிலோ?

அவன் பார்வையினாலோ?

கண்ணதாசனின் கவிதையாலோ?

கண்ணனின் அன்போ ?

தமிழ்த் தாயின் அருளோ ?

இயற்கையின் வரமோ ?

ஈர்ப்பு விசையின் பதிலோ ?

இல்லை! கலையின் விடையோ !
