Menstrual Hygiene Day
It’s not a taboo
Time to educate the Society
1. There are a wide range of ages when
girls can start their periods. It ranges from
8, 9 or up until 17 or 18 years of age.
2. The average length of a period is 5 days
but it can range from 2 to 7 days. Also,
every girls' period is different and will last
different numbers of days as she is
growing up.
3. Menstrual fluid contains some blood, as
well as cervical mucus, vaginal secretions,
and endometrial tissue. This mixed
content is not obvious since the blood
stains everything red or brown.
4. Do you know, there is a need to change
the sanitary pad regularly during the
period at least every four hours. When
these are not changed often enough,
bacteria builds up causing a bad odor,
discomfort and skin irritations.
5. Do you know, May 28 has symbolic
meaning. May is the 5th month of the year
and women menstruate an average of 5
days every month. Also, the menstrual
cycle averages 28 days.
All they need are mental support from the
friends, good nutrition and good Hygiene.
