The Way He Looked At Me #3

That night when I got home, my mother was frightened at the expression on my face. She said I looked as white as a sheet.

She asked me why, but I was still tongue tied. I couldn't eat anything at dinner. I went to bed with my stomach growling with hunger.

His stare was burned into my mind's eye. All night, I kept on ending back up in the library, except this time he and I were alone. And he was still staring at me. And I was glued to my chair, unable to run.

I was more worried because I walked home from school alone. I came from a middle class family. Both my parents worked two jobs and hardly had time for my problems.

Both my siblings were younger and needed me to watch out for them.

Simply put, I was on my own, and had to protect myself. I had to deal with everything life threw at me, and get a scholarship to a good school and make my life better.
But I had no idea how.
