It was her birthday….!
His eyes couldn’t focus.
She stood there in a saree as a distraction….
Making it difficult for him to hide his stares but give secret glances then and there…!
Little disappointed…. But she still waited for him to wish…,
It was tough not exhibiting the desperation…
Though their eyes met…,speaking volumes…
Those seconds of awkwardness never him a chance to tell how beautiful she looked nor did she create a space for them to meet…!
It was afternoon….
It was a short break between classes….
Just then she got a call….
Her heart pounding and not willing to wait a second more ….
She picked it quick….
And in a softer tone than usual said…’Hello’….
There was silcene before every sentence….
Atlast putting an end to the wait…, He said,….”Happy birthday…!”
It was so simple as that.
Nothing fancy and no special words added…!
“Thankyou” she replied.
Not expecting more would just be a lie.
And then there was this long pause…
A quarter of a minute passed….
When he heard someone calling her in for the class….
And just before she hung….
He said,…
“You look beautiful in saree…!”
And watched her enter the class with a soft smile…!

You are back home after a tiring long shift of work…
The last bit of energy you just saved to open the main gate carefully without a sound so that you don’t wake up your sleeping big dog….
Finishing the responsibilies for the day…., saw my husband peep through the door and before I could realise, he started pulling me and rushing me in….
And I had no idea what it was all about…..
But just kept guessing some situations….,
‘Is there guests at home?
Someone not well?
Is everything okay?
What is happening?’…,
And shouting all the way….and in a puzzled face
He brought me infront of his sister and said….,
“Didn’t I tell you she is home”….!
How do I explain what that moment made me feel?
My soul just hugged him tight….
But I just stood there overwhelmed and embarrassed how all eyes turned to me…!
Coming back home and knowing someone misses you….
Just instantly wipes away the day’s exhaustion…!

Lying on your arms…
Time just lapses…
As I keep gazing at your brows and lashes….!

‘Quality’, is never cheap….
Also, ‘expensive’ doesn’t always weigh its worth…!

She was just a little girl….
Who repeatedly read his text that said…,
“I trust you blindly” …..even on an April fools day…!

The scent of innocence you smell
when in love…,
I wish it lasts forever…!

Just as he walked past her…
He wispered in her ears…, “I have a surprise for you…!”
Her eyes gleamed as she turned to him….

If only he had looked back once….
That moment of silence would have conveyed the depth her heart desired…!

How do you think healing looks like…?
You just ignore the things happened….?
You do not visit back the memories that left you shattered….?
Or….You aloof yourself from things that remind you of that past….?
If that is what that is helping you….
You are not even close to bringing back yourself.
Only when you put yourself amidst the chaos
Only when you are able to sit on that chair that once was your comfort….
And nothing affects you or bothers you….
Then you begin to see the change…!

Facing this challenge feels familiar, excited….
Also, this fear of unpreparedness….
Is what that keeps you thrilled …!

Do not renew yourself….
To such an extent….
You start to hate the new you….!
This may sound bizarre….,
But loosing parts of you…
Is mandatory for creating the newness….
And the challege here is to be reborn yet recognisable…
Making sure kindness and love still survives…!
