That energy between us, I could never harness.

Never understood what was ever within your heart,
How we were never together, yet never apart.

Like that smoke from the cigarette which never left my lungs,
Like that light from the fire after everything burns.

The pain in pieces, all puzzled, never felt even once,
Until I put the last piece and felt all at once.

The words we last spoke still reverberating in my mind,
The silence from your eyes never left behind.

Playing with time, Reassuring myself that everything is fine,
Trying not to miss someone who was never mine.
