He likes his coffee black,
I like it a little sweet.
When he demands silence,
I keep my words on loop, on repeat.
He likes subtle monochromes,
I love glitters on my reds and blues.
While he plays his flute and strings,
I fill my shopping cart with a dozen shoes.
I take time to process his confusing statements,
He reads my mind through my eyes,
I shout my love out on the social media
To which he diffidently denies.
He has a limited circle
And I make friends wherever I go,
He finds his happiness in daily sunsets,
While I believe in creating my own rainbow.
Our traits as people are too different to coincide
But that's how we sail through the rough seas,
no matter how high a tide.
Even decades later
when there be nothing left new
We will randomly exchange texts saying
" I LOVE YOU"
