I was once a happy soul
Swamped in a lake of gratitude
Wanting for nothing risqué
Until you tried to reach me

Dazed with puppy eyed impatience
Waking with love as my fragrance
Wishing to share with none other
Than the heart that's meant to reach me

you blew in like an African hamattan
And dried up some of my reservoirs
You spared me not your toxic dust
In your bid to reach me

I could have sailed, I could have ran
I could have listened hence
I would have been warned
But I stayed put and I sunk
While waiting on you to reach me
