रिमझिम बारिश की बूंदें,
हाथों में चाय का कुल्हड़ है,
हैं मस्त बनारस की गलियां,
अब और कहां कोई हसरत है।

रस्ते कितने भी मुश्किल हो,
न विचलित होकर थमना तू,
कर्तव्यपथ पर बढ़ना तू,

हर वक़्त दिल कुछ कहना चाहे ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं,
लफ़्ज़ हर वक़्त दिल की जुबान बन पाए ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं,
अक़्सर तेरे हिस्से की बातें चाँद, सितारों से कह लेती हूँ,
तेरी जगह कोई और ले पाए ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं....
