Father-daughter dance

Take a closer glance,
Daddy, I can almost see you and
your hand
spread like a raft over this large sea,
and on it I see myself floating.
But when I escape this dream,
I find your hands letting go of me
as we have our father-daughter dance
on the surface an open sea,
where you swivel me around at the tip
of your index finger, until we both spin
in separate circles, and I move farther
away from you. The water radiates
in two circles beneath our feet —
the rings then meet in one
huge ring before falling off as a soft wave,
where the waters kiss the rocks goodbye,
away from the origin, where you and I
still dance, in our separate circles
that innocently merge somewhere
at the edge into one.
