I've been driving away from the sirens
Checking my rear view mirror for bloodstains
Turning the wheels towards dried tree trunks
Kicking out the doors as sweat rolls off leather seats
They've zeroed me in by their chopper spotlight
My lips burn through the shattered windshield
I have changed gears more often than a cloud morphing
As we fall fall fall down this wall
Tell them the gun was bullet-less all along
But you pulled the trigger anyway
And I pretended to drown for real
-
Do you remember the daylight
Violating your eyelids
Raking up charred dreams?-
One day I will write
The truest words to escape my mind
The sharpest barbs to pierce my body
The deepest wishes to color my eyelids
One day I will write
The fullest extent of my loneliness
The cruelest reasons of my darkness
The ugliest faces of my jealousy
One day I will write, just because-
There will be a storm tonight
Ants will take wings
And fly into your flaming mouth
Descending in the whirlpool
That is your soul
Swallowing itself
There will be freedom tonight
Dreams will scrawl themselves
Onto scraps of dry leaves
Sinking under your feet
Embracing you
In your own grave-
If I knew where the Big Bang
Tore into the universe
I would plug that leak with
My dangerously fissured atoms
If I knew who coughed up
Lava inside the earth's ribs
I would pour my blood
Down it's throat, in a heartbeat
If I knew what made us cold
Stoic statues of helplessness
I would set my soul on fire
Just to warm this dying world-
