Horatio Spafford was a well known and successful businessman in the 1800's. He lost his son to illness in 1870. Not long after, he lost much of his wealth in a fire, and then lost his 4 daughters in a shipwreck. Even after all of this, he wrote the lyrics to "It is Well With My Soul."

God gave him peace, even though many terrible things had happened to him. If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, you can know that He will always be with you, no matter what you go through. He is faithful in good times and bad times!
