Break that chain
You have long endured this pains
Waiting for crumbs falling from others
Your text filled with “bless me boss”
The hands that can ask can give
Break the curse
You cannot relive your parent’s destiny
That torn sandals and patched uniforms you wore shouldn’t be passed unto your children
They should run on treadmills to exercise not strolling beneath hot scotching sun
Those cars your once drew in your sketchbook should someday be yours
Break through pain
Do not relive your ancestral stories
Placing broken buckets beneath leaking roofs
Clothes being passed down through generations
Tear those clothes, break that chain , find life- Hope Kponi
