A laughter so infectious
That wink so mischievous
And the hug so comforting
It was a love so demanding.
Today I'll trade my everything
For that moment just to cling
Never to let it ever slip by
Even if it's a momentary Hi!
Those days of abandon gay
Beautiful memories today
Fills both with joy and sorrow
Not knowing what is tomorrow.
Years have rolled over
Memories are fresh as ever
Bound together with a beauty
That is called truth in simplicity!
Our days of growing together
From childhood to being seniors
Is underlined with only one theme
Life is a reality and not a dream.
As we all grow older
Only one thing to remember
That laughter, that wink and that hug
Is a testimony of pure, unselfish love!!

The bridge has collapsed
The dentist gasped
Till death do us part
Was his closing shot!
Picking up fragments
Laced with antibiotics
Wash to cleanse the rubble
A big unexplained bill!!
Eating soaked bread in gravy
And with appointments daily
The dreaded dentist's chair
Has become a daily affair!!
How I wish that milk teeth
The tiny pearls inside my mouth
Would have been there always
In lieu of these bridges and implants!!

Trudged my way into a field
Wished my father had that willed
Knocked on the door of a lawyer
Alibi he roared to get off the murder
Ran for my life and barged into a friend
Into a frenzy he did me send
Demanded the loan I had borrowed
Opened my mouth and a bee I swallowed
Rolled down the hill to save my skin
To my dismay fell into a half made coffin
Stared sheepishly at a burly undertaker
He kicked me out and held my collar
Bruised all over and actually scampered
Then lightening struck and thunder roared
Fully drenched and was caught unawares
My miseries increased but this was unfair
Spotted a clinic with no doctor in
Tried my hand with a bandage spin
Hobbled out with a cleaner look
Sat in silence beside a brook
Imagined the footsteps I heard
Of the lawyer, friend and undertaker
Who were my today's unchallenged dictators!
But luck favoured me when the farmer
Sympathetically took me to a banker
Who gave me a loan to buy that field
The field was blessed by a priest
Promised to never cast my eyes and covet again
Learnt my lesson for life -Amen Amen!!

A sweet chubby face
Grew up with grace
Care and Compassion
Was an inbuilt passion
A personality that turned heads
An infectious smile which always spread
Diligently worked for promotions
Traversed across the oceans
Sincerity in service was the motto
Only mantra which was followed
And when an untimely death did beckon
Hearkened to the call from heaven.
They searched amongst the ashes
Struggled with the DNA matches
When an angel beckoned from top
"Please don't put me in a spot
Remember me as you had always seen
Not as a bag of ashes in a white coffin
I have now flown away to a space
Where there is only joy, love and peace
No pain, sorrow hatred and strife
A place where I'm enjoying eternal life".
-
Who am I?
I peep into myself
The conscience whispers
A calm demeanor
But inside an uproar
The hidden tears
Behind the smile
A sensitive me
Can placate many
Tired to the bones
Scampers without fuss
Swallows the hurt
There's a limit
No word said
But work is done
The world around happy
Me still in misery...
Woken with a shout
I'm up and about
Life has to go on
No excuses rise
Only a praise
Thank you Lord I'm alive!!

Tweets of birds woke me up
Streched my hand to touch you
Memory of you snuggling besides
Danced in front of my eyes.
Breakfast was a routine
Milk, egg and chocos
Then the TV always on
Snacks, lunch, juice all in the hall
Driving you for a bath was crazy
It was so funny, you were out in a jiffy.
Evenings were often out
Garden, mall or an eatery
All had the right to say
What they wanted at end of the day
Nights full of stories
Made up by me..
Till you fell asleep or I dozed off....
Those precious days are memories
Will stay on for years and years..
-
A missile , a whistling sound buzzes
Accelerates and it's speed surpasses
Piercing shriek as it descends
To a second of silence and it restarts....
A dark night with a few stars
What lies ahead is no one's guess
The siren sounds and feet scampers
Some may find a few trenches
Next day casualties are statistics.
A newly wed shelves his honeymoon dreams
Annual leave cut short and Papa returns
Little boy can feel the tension around
Parents appear strong and hold the fort
Hidden tears in every eyes
A prayer on every lips...
Every night when I lie on my bed soft and warm
I owe it all to our bravehearts in the uniform!!

C L O S I N G
All books balanced
Balance Sheets compiled
Statements worked on
An absolute marathon
Ready for audit
With bated breath
All on their toes
Tension grows
Relief when it's over
Our yearly closure!!
But was always fun
Co's all had their gun
Pointed all around
Crowned and dethroned
The rigmarole continues
With glee we discuss
Challenges and problems
New ideas blossoms
Twelve months later
Closing says, "Encore"!!

What do I ask you now??
Open to all that you allow..
My tears, pleas and desires
Haven't fallen on deaf ears
Your plans will unfold soon
Beautiful surprises will bloom
Possibilities I never asked
Will be within my grasp
What you have designed
Is all that goes ahead
Leaving behind my dreams
Yours will take on wheels
I submit to you meekly
Cos you are God Almighty!!

A woman you behold
What does unfold?
A daughter first
Her parents treasured
Then a damsel
Sometimes a puzzle
A coy bride
Her hubby's pride
A caring mother
Now bold and stonger
Handles home and job
Can easily photoshop
Her words of wisdom
Precise, maybe unwritten
Through all these years
Tempered many degrees
To face the world
Protects her own
The sixth sense
Is her strength
The hidden tears
And unceasing prayers....
Is the woman one beholds
A
Masterpiece the world unfolds??
