When people are too embarrassed to show remorse, the wise forgive without hesitation. They forgive, not because they are weak but because they value peace above everything else. They don't want peace just for themselves but also for the people that aggrieved them. They are too compassionate to be resentful towards anyone and wise enough to know that resentment is a soul destroying futile emotion that destroys everyone's peace and solves nothing.
