I was sent to a special school,
where I wouldn't be taken for a fool.
I read all my books in Braille,
and was never one to fail.
I was pretty, they said.
The world is petty, they said.
I deserve pity, they said.
Black, the only colour
that I've seen.
One of the many colours
that I've known.
I see that one colour,
in it, every colour.
I see the world
for what it is: DARK.
I befriended Black,
for a lifetime together.
It teaches me to absorb,
and yet, stay untouched.
My world, black as the night sky,
lets me fathom constellations.
