In shivering cold, you lie in bed
Straddled to a corner backed up against the wall
Hiding
From the waiting arms of loyal friends
From the willing tears of loving peers
Afraid to trust, afraid to hold
Afraid to let the light shine in
For once in innocence and child-like trust
You let one in who shared your blood
Then like wolf hidden with the flock
He pounced and roared and thrust and scorned
But when he left, your world view changed
From trusting child to skeptical youth
And finally to locked up adult
Now, tears freely fall down the fountain of your face
Afraid to share your tale you hold it up inside
But like a dam full to overflowing
Your emotions finally give way to the urge for self expression.
And so...
You pick up your knife,
And begin
To cut...
