The world is like a volcano
Spewing fiery red, orange lava
Loooking pretty while sliding down

Don't look like what I've been through

Don't look pale in the Harmattan season making me look like a cadaver
Don't shine weirdly after a day under the hot sun like Mama Kumi's akara
Don't wrinkle when I'm old and frail
Finally, don't ask me what I need you to look like!

Your skin, so pale like a cadaver
Your tummies are bloated
Your feet are bare
Still you have no care
Except to love and be loved.

I WISH I KNEW RIGHT

I didn't know what I was doing
But I stayed
I didn't know if my decision was right
But I was ready to toe the line
Do what I believed and stand by it
Hoping that you'll dole out the same energy
But I was wrong
You walked away at the first sign of discomfort.

At the point when we feel completely broken,

That point where you feel hopeless, please don't lose hope. You can't lose hope, you can't give up, you can't let go. Hope is what keeps you alive. Mother Earth cries out
She hears the shrill cry of her kids like the terrifying shriek of the puma in the wild
She never slumbers
She sees the design of the vicious;
She hears the distressing wail of the victims
And receives the blood of the innocent
She bids her time to raise a fuss
Sending floods and quakes meandering through her lanes in a snake-like ritual
She groans and grates her teeth
Like a mother, she pulls her wards from danger
But mortals reject her voice
And where does it lead?
To a war!
