High functioning labels are just neurotypical speak for 'you speak pretty well for an R word'. It's patronising .

You know when you're an autistic kid, and you speak, and people ignore you like you never said anything? Yeah, that doesn't go away in adulthood. And when you give up and say nothing, people think you're 'quiet'.

Movies about autism usually go one of two ways. They depict us as either genius savants, or completely dependent. Plenty of us are just normal or average. I'm not a maths genius, or a computer hacker, or a doctor.

Is it autism day or autism month? Apparently it's about acceptance. I haven't felt accepted or included at all during my lifetime

"Some of the greatest musicians I've ever heard in my entire life, were playin' in the subways of New York City, for chump change being thrown into an empty instrument case, and some of the lousiest musicians I've ever heard in my entire life, are sellin' millions of records, because the truth is, all of the talent in the world is no guarantee of success, but all the success in the world is no proof of talent either.....THAT'S what's wrong with the music business"- Miles Davis

I don't think you grow out of Asperger's or autism. I think you grow into it. If anything, I get weirder as I get older, because I don't bother masking who I am anymore.

As an aspie, I've been accused of being childish and of being too serious. Lol. Which is it? You can't have both!

Aspie interests don't always make a lot of sense. For example, I enjoy collecting model diecast cars , and playing driving simulator games, and looking at stylish cars; yet I don't drive and am not in a hurry to learn. I get public transport everywhere! :)

It's a little irksome when people say autism is a superpower. I mean, I don't think I have any particular skills or talents. Perfectly average in every way lol. People say I am really good at writing, although we struggle to see our own talent. I got published once, but can't say I've ever really used that gift
