What is darkness?

I don't think it's merely the opposite of light.
Perhaps, it's the place wherein people seek solace
when light leaves them or they feel overwhelmed by its brightness.

But every time we give in to darkness,
may be the ledger in fate's hand
credits the account of light to shine
in our near or distant future.

Then again, fate and destiny often behave in oddity.
So Darkdwellers are left in the dark
while the Illuminated carry the light within them.
